Installed new updates last night. It is now impossible to have volume icon show up in system tray. Option is 'grayed out" in notification screen of tool bar properties. Use sound max integrated audio on mother board and can find no way to set that as default sound. All was find before update as rolled back before update and there it was. Applied update and it was gone.

    Would appreciate any ideas.

What was the update you installed Gary?
Have you tried re-installing the Vista capable Sound Max driver?

I put in the updates that I found available last night. Sound Max had worked find until then. The icon was present. I can still adjust the volume by using my multimedia keyboard, but that is not the same. I will go to the Sound Max site and look for the drivers.

I can not find a Vista driver. There does not seem to be one out there.
