Lately there has been no sound on my computer.. Its off mute.. the speakers are fine and running properly..

When i try and click on the volume control icon to change the volume i get this message:

There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices go to 'Control Panel' click Printers & other hardware and then click hardware.

    This program will now close.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

What does this mean and what should i do?

First step is to reload the audio drivers - these should be on the motherboard CD, if you have one.

If you don't download and run Everest and let us know the make and model number of the motherboard and I'm sure we can point you to where the drivers can be downloaded.

I can't find a motherboard of that description on the Asus site - would you check please that you have not made a typo.

Is this an OEM computer - HP, Gateway .... ? - if so please post the make and model no.
