    Hi guys,
Due to my comp running temps i wasnt happy with (53-58 celsius side off) i went out and bought a new heatsink - The ThermalTake volcano 9.

Before i installed it, i plugged it in to see if everything was working properly, fan spins=good. But makes a weird noise. So now i havent installed it, coz i wanna know if its like damaged or whatever.

My question is....does anyone have this heatsink? And does it make a weird noise on a lower RPM? On high RPM it sounds like a vacuum cleaner or a jet plane taking off but thats fine :). Just on low rpm's it makes this weird ticking sound. Any help is much appreciated.

I've tried a couple of em' on my own machines and couldn't stand the noise. However, I didn't hook up the variable speed temp control or try the adjustable knob either - just let it go at full throttle. Switched over to Cooler Master HSC-V62's which run quieter and about 5C cooler on a couple of 2400+ machines. More recently, put another one on an unlocked, overclocked 1900+ AGOGA core Palamino and am very happy.

    ;)

I know its loud, no problem with that. (5000rpm sounds like a jet taking off :p). But when i set it to like 1400rpm, its sounds smooth and then starts making a ticking noise, and when i hold it with every tick it makes a vibration. Bearings stuffed...?
