    Hi ssmith10pn!

I have not tested this or had any reason to, thankfully, but I would recommend staying with something tailored for XP and supported by MicroSoft. Take a look and see what you think of this.

    Best regards

And here's a report on Simply Speaking, I see it is well stocked and sold at the local Fry's Electronics. Report It's an I.B.M. product as you will learn so it should be pretty well cutting edge. ;)

And here's another link with possibly helpful info. This voice recognition technology is still stumbling along at a snail's pace and it's pretty disappointing to see that there isn't much in the way of a breakthrough in the offing. I think it will take some celebrity in need to get the ball rolling.

I'm sorry I can't offer something better but perhaps someone else will chime in that has personal experience setting this up.

    Regards

I once heard about a quadrupalegic woman who had this thing she could wear on the roof of her mouth that had buttons she could push with her tongue to control her computer. But I don't know where you could get one. Anyone else see this on the news a while back?

    Hi shadowhawk!

Now there's an idea. I didn't see anything about that but but I'll do some looking.

That's a good idea. I suppose it would be done with pneumatic switches don't you? I can imagine some tiny tubes running to small pressure sensitive switches that would operate by pressing the tongue against a sort of air filled pad that was supported in the mouth like a dental appliance (bridge). Perfectly safe unless you swallowed it. :) Now you wouldn't be able to put an entire keyboard in your mouth but I think you could manage with just a few basic items.

The people with disabilities this are often the ones that can come up with the good stuff since they recognize exactly what's needed. The motivation isn't a problem when you have the need.

We could extend that concept to adding eyelid motion sensors to take the place of mouse keys I suppose. Right wink, left wink. hmm..

I'd like to help this person that ssmith10pn is dealing with so I'll have to do some more searching. I don't know where to begin except good old Google. I'm sure some ADA advocacy group may have something to offer.

    Thanks for your input
