    Hi,
I read a lot about this issue but I want to know if someone was in a similar position like me. I had high speed internet (cable) with vista windows. All was perfect. I changed my town and also the internet provider. Now, the internet is DSL (using the phone line). Since then, I have problems with updating the vista, I can't enter on sites like msn, microsoft, hotmail, microsoft, etc also the windows defender is not updating as well. The error, after trying updating is 80072EE2. I tried to fix this but with no success.
    Please, could anyone help me?
    Thanks

You are sure you are not having a firewall issue as described here?

You might also look into the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ReportingEvents.log file

    Hi,

My I delete what's in the directory SoftwareDistribution directly? Not to use these mentioned steps before (1. proxycfg -d (to clear proxy cache) 2.net stop wuauserv (to stop Automatic updates service).
I tried to do the first step but it gave me the message : "proxycfg is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I tried the step 2 but I had the message :Sustem error 5 has occurred. Access is denied.
But, I could not delete only the content of that directory?

    Thanks
