Windows Vista Vista needs 'reactivating'?

    Hi

    I have exactly the same problem as the OP on this thread http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-vista/77336-cant-re-activate-windows-vista.html (except my Vista is Home Premium) with exactly the same error code and anything. Vista said it needed reactivating when I turned on my PC this morning.

    However, unlike Evan Omo, after restoring my system to 4 days ago, it still says it is not activated, and Windows Product Activate does not give me the option to activate by telephone hotline.

    Furthermore, this exact same problem happened to me about 3 weeks ago, whereupon I called Medion (the make of the PC) who told me to use the 'Application and Support' disc, which came with the PC, which basically reset my computer to exactly how it was when I received it.

    Although this solved the problem until now, clearly I really would not like to go to the trouble of backing up all my data and reinstalling all the programs I have yet again. Also, the problem may well happen another time.

    Any help would be much appreciated as this incredibly annoying to say the least. Thanks very much

    You just need to use the phone number provided and activate it.

    That's the thing, there is no phone number provided. That option doesn't come up on the Windows activation client screen

    If you cannot activate Windows Vista over the Internet

    If you are re-installing Windows or reactivating Windows, the activation process may not be completed successfully when you try to activate Windows Vista over the Internet by using the Windows Activation Wizard. If this occurs, you should activate Windows over the telephone.

    To activate Windows Vista over the telephone, follow these steps:

    Click Start
    and then click Computer.
    Click System properties on the toolbar, and then click Click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation area.


    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    The Windows Activation Wizard starts.
    Click Use the automated telephone system in the Windows Activation Wizard.
