    This is in reply to
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/networking/79547-lose-browser-firefox-ie-connection-vista.html

(I typed all this out before being told the thread was too old),

    Hello,
I have the same problem. I keep losing we browser connection, although internet to Skype and email still works.

    Dell PC with Vista Home
    Netgear 834 wired router
    Zone Alarm on
    Windows firewall OFF
    Spybot
    AdAware
    Chrome
    Firefox
    EI 8

This must be the 100th forum I have come to (although most only read). It seems shocking that there are so many people having this problem, but nothing mentioned on MS's site. It seems to be a huge problem.

I will try following the additional advice above. I have already disabled AVG and replaced to Avast. This did not work for me. I have messed about with router settings, also failed to work. Done some crazy stuff modifying registry values, which also did not work.

Starting the think that installing XP or even Linux may be the solution! Typing this on my Linux box (not main pc though). Very frustrating. Just installing all remaining optional windows updatse, just in case one happened to fix the problem.

Lose connection about once an hour. Rather frustrating, especially seeing that I am trying to build a business here. Grrrr.

Any further suggestions on what the problem could be would eb appreciated. I have also uninstalled a lot of unused software in the hope it would clear a conflict etc, but no luck.

    Most probably a malware.

Post in Malware section to see if it helps.
