Any reports that the scanner and printer will not function with vista? HP failed to reply as did umax (scanner) and Samsung (printer) concerning the issue. Desire to upgrade but one must spend wisely to purchase GAS  Please advise. Thanks for your time

Happy Flag day and 232nd birthday of the U.S. Army

The older they are, the more likely they won't work....

Have you run the Upgrade Advisor software on your XP machine?

I went to this Umax page to see if there were Vista drivers for any of their scanners.

There's no option for Vista anywhere on the page. It doesn't look good for Umax and Vista.

You can go to this HP page, enter the type and model number of your printer and see if there are any Vista drivers for it.

I had to buy a new printer/scanner combo when I got Vista because Lexmark has no intention of writing Vista drivers for any of their products that are more than a couple of years old. Fortunately, printers and scanners are a lot cheaper than they used to be (No, I didn't buy another Lexmark). :)

Appreciate the interest. The clean system I own serves my needs very well.
Therefore,to trash perfectly operational equipment,at this time, is out of the question. Mr. Bill Gates will receive a FTC complaint form.

Issue closed but not resolved. Thanks.

I know you said "issue closed" but please realize that Microsoft has no control over hardware manufacturers and their decisions regarding drivers.

Hardware manufacturers have known for at least a year that Vista was coming. There have been numerous trial/beta/final candidate releases of Vista so they've had opportunities to test their Vista drivers. If they have decided not to bother writing Vista compatible drivers, there is absolutely nothing Microsoft can do.
