    hi
    my norton antivirus 2002 keeps telling me that i have a W32.IRCBot, Virut.A, Bleshare virus of some sort that has infected some files in the system32 file. However, it could not access the files to delete. So I tried to find the lot of them in safe mode but i couldn't find a single one, even with the hidden files showing. I keep getting these pop-ups telling me to clean the registry keys by logging onto regupdating.com. As a side note, the laptop doesn't acknowledge the ps/2 mouse; i'm wondering if it has anything to do with the virus.

    Here's my log:

    Hi shnikes

    Welcome to windowsbbs

    First thing we need to do is stop a service from running:
    Go to: Start > Run > type " services.msc ", then click OK

    Scroll down to the Windows Messenger service.

    Click it to highlight it, then <right-click> and select: Properties
    Select and set "Service Status" option to "Stop"
    Select: "Startup type" and set it to "Disabled ", click Apply, then OK.

    Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

    Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
    • Finally copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

    Please post a New HJT Log and the Report.txt into this Thread.
