    Hi,

I have two friends who are still running Windows 95. They are elderly and do not want to upgrade or purchase new computers to start learning XP.

Both of their Norton virus programs (2002) are expiring and if they purchase Norton later versions, it doesn't seem to support Windows 95.

What we need is some virus program that will help protect them on their computers. Preferably a free virus protector but if that is not possible, what should they buy to protect their computers.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Jean

Thank you Daizy, I didn't think AVG could be used for Windows 95.

Both of my friends computers are very, very, slow whenever they try to download a long file and they usually get cut off from their server.

Do you know of a way that I can download AVG from my computer (I have cable) and put it on a CD-R. I know that when you download you get an email with the registration number that you must use to install it.

How, if possible, can I download AVG on my computer and just install it on theirs? Will I have to download it twice to get different registration numbers and, if so, will AVG let me download it this way?

Thanks again for all the help.

    Jean

It's a little bit of a grey area.
The correct answer is yes....... it needs to be downloaded and installed seperately on each computer.

However, I own a couple of machines, so saved myself a little time, by downloading, burning to disk...and installing on each.

I liked the AVG free edition so much, I purchased AVG 7.0.

Daizy - were you able to download the same AVG file from your CD on all your computers using the one registration number?

    Once again...... grey answer.
    Yes, I was able to.

    I'm sure that this wasn't AVG's intention.

Just a thought.... surely it is just the update subscription that is expiring with the norton 2002 not the program itself. So it should just be a matter of purchasing a renewal subscription through live update. And then no new software to learn.
