virus again?

hi, guys.

my newly installed xp goes into troubles lately. the symptoms are as follows:

1. the automatic protection of Norton doesn't work even if i click the
corresponding button to activate this operation.

2. On the Norton panel, the "system status" shows "special causion" in red
fonts.

3. Time to time, a dialog pops out telling me the Machine Debug Manager goes
wrong and needs to be shut down and requesting permission to send a
falt report

4. Days ago, Norton detect a win32.Pinfi virus in a file named bda1.tmp in the
path: C:\Documents and Settings\lb\Local Settings\Temp, and it was
successfully quarantined.

can any of you tell me what is going on?
