Virtual Drives

I have previously used Daemon Tools and a couple of other Virtual Drive enabling software programs. Recently I tried alcohol 120% trial. Since uninstalling Alcohol I cannot use ANY software that installs virtual drives - XP will not load after installed and I have to either disble the drives, uninstall the software or use System Restore. I have tried to get advice from Alcohol forums but they just say remove things from Registry - that does not work at all - even if I can find the reg keys.
Basically XP will not load if I put and virtual drives on PC...

Any ideas?

 

any ideas - or other virtual drive software i could try?

To solve the immediate problem: do you have a System Restore point prior to your install of this software?

If yes, go back to that point. Be aware that any install of software or MS updates since that time will also be gone. But I think your current situation justifies using SR.

SR will leave image files, ie .jpg, or .txt files alone. Any ohers, move to the My Documents folder and SR will leave it alone. This does NOT apply to any exe file - programs, because there the issue is the registry.

I don't have SR back before I first installed Alcohol 120 - so I cannot do this - I have used it after later installs that cause the problem..
I am stumped - really don't want to formAT..

If no joy, try a repair of XP. Thread here http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19487&highlight=repair

The repair option is more serious. Reload of SP1 for instance if your XP install cd is older and any MS updates are going to have to be redone + video driver updates if any as well.
