I have tried to install Alcohol120 and two other virtual drive programs. None of them will completely install. They get to the driver installation and the system reboots. The drivers are in the drivers directory, but they aren't active. The new hardware found Window pops up but, if I try to install the hardware, the system reboots.

There is no uninstaller information so I have to go to the registry and delete all the entries and delete the drivers from the system32/drivers directory.

I also have a VIA SATA RAID controller which I have disabled. When I try to enable it the system reboots.

    Thanks for any help.

A guess? It is conflicting with the CD/DVD burning software you already have installed (maybe especially if you have a "packet writer" program running in the background).

Not too sure on a solution...the cure may be worse than the disease. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling your burning software.

Try the CD/DVD forums. I have received good help at cdmediaworld.

    RE: Can't Install Virtual Drives

    Thanks, mattman.

For the time being, and maybe forever, I've installed VirtualDriver Creator. It's absolutely free. All you do is drop a dll in your System32\Drivers directory and make a directory and shortcut for the interface. Works great and the drives last through a reboot. The only thing missing is emulation.

I'll try cdmediaworld because it just bugs me when I can't get something to work.

    Thanks again,
    Ed
