    I'm running XP and Outlook Express 6.

    Recently I noticed that a lot of the spam I'm getting is installing it's address in my address book.

    How do I configure my address book so that I'm the only one who can enter an address into it

    I've searched through Outlook help and can't find any info on this subject.

    thanks

    Maybe ==> http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307730&sd=tech?

    Are you replying to any of these spam e-mails requesting not to get e-mails from them? If you do there is a setting to "Automatically put people I reply to in my Address Book ". If you are never reply to a spam e-mail as this is one way to let the spammer know they have hit upon a vaild e-mail address.

    You could also run a program that I use called MailWasher Pro. It's free to use for 30 days.

    This is probably what happened in your address book. If you've updated recently or just got XP then it checked this box as a default. Just uncheck it and you should be good to go.

    dobhar's suggestions are very good, too.

    Let us know if this solved your problem, or not.

    No, these are messages i haven't even opened ... just deleted.
    And it seems as if it's a recent occurrence.

    But then it's not until just recently that i started getting a lot of spam.
    One of the drawbacks of "online banking" ... if you give your email address to CitiBank, it will end up on some spammers list.

    I took your suggestion though and unchecked the "Automatically put people I reply to in my Address Book" box.
    If that doesn't help then I'll try Mailwasher.

    Thanks Kent ... Panda

    Unchecking that line should do the trick. Holler back and let us know. We LOVE sharing info here.
