My computer is a Pentium II 400 with an SE440BX-2 Motherboard. Recently my ViewSonic VE170 (flat screen) started to have white flickering lines from the time I start up. At first I thought that my video card might have been going out, so I bought a new one and installed it, but had the same problem, so I hooked up my other ViewSonic E771 monitor I had before I got the flat screen, and this monitor is not flickering.

My ViewSonic VE170 monitor is only about 1 1/2 years old. Do you think it is the actual monitor that is going out, or could it be a short in the power supply or something else?

    Thanks.

It sounds like you've effectively trouble-shot the problem to be your monitor.
You have 3 choices: contact Viewsonic if the monitor is still under repair...or...take it to a monitor repair place with say a $30-50 troubleshooting fee that can be applied to the repair (hopefully)...or...get a new monitor and chalk it up to bad luck.

As far as repairing it, keep in mind that monitor repairs are quite expensive while new monitors are not!
