I recently copied all my old files from an old computer (I think it had windows 95 or maybe 97 on it) to a newer Dell with Windows Vista. When I attempt to open my picture files (that are all jpeg), the thumbnails of the pics quickly change from the pic to a blank screen and when i open it it is a blank screen.

Is this corrupting my pic files? What do I need to do to see the pics again? Is it a compatability problem?

I would really appreciate any input. All searches on the internet seem to be more related to being able to open the file, rather than the file getting ruined.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

Right click on a file and select Open With - betting you have more then one option.. So try them all.

Make certain you leave the box Always Use unchecked.

If you copied the files and did not "move" them (cut and paste), then they will still be on the old system, it's just a matter of getting them to open correctly.

I might wonder if a checking program (antimalware) is interferring.
