    Hi,
My neighbor's daughter just got married in Las Vegas and sent her an "evite" to see the wedding video. She sent it to me and I had no trouble viewing it on my computer running Windows Vista but she (the mother) cannot view it on her Windows Vista machine. Apparently she doesn't get the black box (video box) that is appearing on the screen so she can't view it.

I have told her to update her Windows Media Player to Version 11, and she has also updated her Flash Player, also updated all the Windows Updates and is still not able to see her daughter's wedding.

Can anyone help figure out why I can view it but she can't.

Following is the information to access the web site.

    Go to www.aspecialmemory.com
    Click on View Video
Type in Grooms Last Name: Baldinger
Type in Grooms First Name: Kenny
Type in Brides Maiden Name: Davis
Type in Brides First Name: Debbie
    Date of Ceremony: 08-29-2008
    Hit Submit.

Any help that you can give to try to figure out why she can't get the video will be very much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Jean

    Out of curiosity:
See if she can open media player and from the wmp menubar select>file>open url>and copy and paste this in the popup:
    http://www.asmvideo.com/weddings/movies/1343.wmv

    FYI:
I have also been able to download this video and save it to my harddrive.

Thank you so very much. I saved the video and sent it to her as an email attachment. I told her to save it to her desktop, close the email program. Double click the video and see if it opened.

She said it worked perfectly that way, she got sound and video.

Thank you so much for your help. I don't know why I couldn't figure that one out but I didn't realize you could save it to your desktop.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Jean,

I was happy to help out. In truth, I don't think you were suppose to able to copy the video. I was just monkeying around, trying to find a work around for the neighbor, when a check of the properties on the video gave me the direct url. Out of curiosity, I thought I'd see if media player would play it as a stand alone *.wmv from the site. It did! Being a right clicker, I also noticed that a rightclick on the link had the option of "save as" *.wmv to desktop. To my surprise, I did and it did.

I'm happy this worked out as I know how important these events and memento's are. Thanks for the update and your most welcome.

Your neighbor is still left the problem of, "why the video was not accessible via the site ". I just thought this was easier than going through the check list of making media player default, checking its security enables and disables, IE's Zone Security and Advanced tab> "media settings ", coupled with watching for the security bar which needs permission to run the activex for media player...etc. Hopefully the problem is isolated to this site. (Check to make sure she used IE browser as I also noticed that FireFox (at least on my computer) didn't show embedded media player for this site, while IE did).

    Hi Again,

It is great that you play around to figure out how things get done. I was surprised that we were all able to save it also. We won't worry for now if my neighbor has other issues viewing videos. I don't think she does though because I'm sure she would have let me know. In fact, she told me that she has never had this problem before so we'll just let it rest. She is very grateful to be able to keep the video, she didn't expect that, she just wanted to see it one time. Yes she does use Internet Explorer.

    Thanks again for the help.

    Jean
