    Hello z4u,

Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and go to View there.

see if it's been moved to one of the other menus; in some versions it's under tools. Otherwise think it indicates need to install again.

z4u--I am really only repeating what others have said.
You start by opening Windows Explorer, not IE.
From the menubar right under the blue title bar, left click on Tools (not View),then Folder Options. You should find the View tab. That is where the "Show hidden files and folders" setting is.
If not, you might consider reinstalling Win98.
What Windows version had you used previously?

You might have a policy set that's hiding them. I know this is a knew install but I've seen similar things happen on freshly installed OS's. Have a look at these two registry keys.
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
    Code:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
In both keys look in the right pane for a value named NoFolderOptions. If it's in either of them, backup the key (just in case) and then delete the NoFolderOptions value. If folder options still doesn't show in windows explorer, reboot the computer and then see if it's there.
