I'm in the process of making a website, and Im attempting to get screenshots from any video that might be playing. I paused a video and i took a screen shot; when i pasted it into a image program, it came up as a "hole ". By a hole I mean that my Media Player was behind my image program and it showed what was on the players screen. When I minimised the Media Play, it only showed up as a black area where the video should of appeared.

I've tryed at least 4 different methods to capture screens, from the Print Screen button, to software that capture screens. And now Im really  at this point.

Do I have to update video drivers and like Dirext X drivers as well?
Or is this another fluke or WinXP and or Windows Media Player?

I've also tried to get screenshots from PowerDVD on my computer and I end up with the same problem.

So anyone got an idea, to what i should do????:)

Chances are the screen you are trying to capture is a DirectX overlay screen. These are notoriously difficult to capture. You'll get strange results, like the capture will seem to have succeeded, but when you close your player, the picture will also disappear from the captured image.

Hypersnap DX is a good program for capturing these, but even it has difficulties sometimes:

The very easiest way to do this is to go to your Display Properties, Settings tab, Advanced (you can find this in the Options/Preferences of some players, too) and find the slider for Video Acceleration. Turn this off temporarily and you can capture the player screen normally.
