Hi. I belong to HMS Protector Association. Our members served down the Antarctic and the Falkland Islands from 1955 to 1968. We are holding a memorial service at the Arbouretum in Staffordshire in April 2011. We would if possible like to link up our church service with the Cathedral in Port Stanley.
Can anyone explain how we would go about this and what equipment would we require both ends.

    Hi Crusher,
I,m sorry to say I have no idea how to resolve this issue but I am posting merely to wish you the best of luck with your project. If the service goes ahead and is broadcast or appears on YouTube can you please either post it here or send me a message.
    Good Luck & God Bless.

Are you aware of Skype? I regularly help residents in an assisted living facility communicate face to face with loved ones all over the world using Skype. As long as you have internet access (broadband I would assume as I have never tried it using dialup) it doesn't make any difference if the computers are in adjacent rooms or of one is on the other side of the world. Recently, I watched a major network TV interview where the network and the interviewee used Skype.

All it requires is the free Skype program and webcams on both machines. A decent webcam, with integrated microphone can be had for around $50 US. It sounds as though you may have an audience situation which could require the use of a projection unit hooked up to the computer - but might be workable in your situation.

    Go to http://www.skype.com

Hi, Robert. Looks good, I have contacted a few of our members who have contacts in the Falkland Islands. Thank you for your kind assistance. There's always a Welcome in The Hillsides of Wales. I will post when I get further information. Thanks again.Doug in Wales

    Doug,
I checked out your website and will see how things pan out.
    Good Luck
PS Many years ago, on a Sunday I went to find a hillside welcome in Anglesey, but the pubs were closed!
