Hi, I have a problem with using video editors to edit AVI files.

I'm on Win 2k and took some video footage with my Nisis DV4 (if I remember the camera model correctly). It is in AVI format and plays correctly in Windows Media Player and also the preview box in Windows Explorer. However, when I have used numerous video editors, such as XVid, Colour Movie Editor, Bobyte, and others, it always says "Cannot Open File - invalid format ", despite the fact that all these editors support AVI. When I open other AVI files in these editors, such as GIFs or Flash files converted to AVI, it works fine.

Does anybody know the cause or solution to this error? I would be very grateful, as I have some lovely footage taken with the camera that I really want to edit.

    Thanks,

    ~MKK

Ok, nevermind - I've discovered that I can edit these files by importing them into the library in Flash MX, then export them to another AVI which I can edit with software. This is of course a long, tedious process, but it seems to work...

    Thanks..er...anyway!
