I just yesterday installed from Windows Update the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 driver 5.2.1.6. I may be having some problems with it and I'd like to uninstall it. When I tried rolling back the driver in device manager, however, it wouldn't -- the program just freezes and says it's not responding. There's an entry in add/remove programs for an NVidia driver, but no date or versionm number is indicated, so I'm not sure if I'd be uninstalling the new driver or the NVidia GeForce driver I originally had by doing so.

    Any suggestions?

Btw, I should mention that I have a full Acronis True Image Backup of my system prior to the new driver install, so if I need to (and knew what directory to look for it in) I could restore that back over to my system.

It is not advisable to download hardware drivers through Windows Update - invariably they cause problems. No idea why, but it's a fact :)

The latest drivers for your card should be available here ....

I suggest you uninstall the current driver through Add/Remove Programs being sure to uninstall only the graphics driver if you also have an nVidia chipset on the motherboard.

    Okay, thanks again.

And another quick question, if I might:

An icon for Windows Messenger keeps reappearing in my system tray every few days -- saying it's not signed in. I've configured Messenger not to play an icon in the tray, and msmsgs doesn't load in the startup programs. So why does it keep reappearing every few days?
