Iam in the process of getting a new PC. What would be a better video card? Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 or 8mb / 3D with Direct X 7.
0 What I need it for is to play Flight Simulator 2004 on it . I do not play over the internet, The PC Iam looking to purchase also has an Intel Pentium Proceesor w/HT Technology (3GHz, 800 FSB) The game reguires at least 450MHz, but a freind of mine said to get more because it would still lag with 450MHz. Is he right?

    Thanks!

Have you seen this MS article on FS 2004? Seems like you need at least 8 Mb Video RAM, which is really miniscule these days - I would be looking at much more for normal use 32 - 64 Mb, especially if you want to use 24 or 32 bit colour. Current gamers cards seem to be 128 Mb - 256 Mb, but FS would appear to be far less demanding.
The PC you have in mind is 3 gigahertz - ~ 8 x faster than the minimum required :)

    Hi,
    The specifications:
    http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/eg2/

It is integrated graphics which means it is part of the motherboard. The memory is 96MB which is "shared" from the system memory (if the system has, say, 512MB of RAM, 96MB will be allocated to the graphics, leaving 416MB of RAM for the system to use).

Edit: Sorry if that is technical. Yes, it should run FS2004 easily.
How much system memory (RAM) does the computer have?

    No problem.
That is a reasonable amount of system RAM. I would be concerned if it was any lower, since almost 100MB would be utilized for the graphics. FS2004 should run easily. The thing I find with Microsoft games is installation problems. When I see that it is a M$ game, I can almost guarantee installation dramas.

Sounds like the system should go well.

    Matt
