i bought a used video card on ebay from a working system, I have GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard
and i bought a EVGA NVIDIA GEFORCE gtx 280 1gb gddr3 sdram pclex16, and when i hook it up i get no signal
on my monitor. i called the guy i bought it from and hs says i have to go in my bios and change my vga to legecy.
but i can;t find anything like that in my bios. is there something else i should look for.

From the Owners Manual Index 2.4
Don't forget to install the drivers from GEForce.

Hi bebuzz68. Have you tried installing the video card in another computer to rule out that the video card isn't faulty?

Also what power supply does the computer have?

    1. you cannot and should not install the drivers before installing the new video card.
    2. minimum requirements for that card is a 500w power supply with I believe a 6 or 8 pin power connector to the card.

If the power to the card is insufficient you'll see a red light on the card.

    from the horse's mouth:
    GeForce GTX 280

    re your motherboard bios setting:

OnChipVGA PEG Sets the PCI Express graphics card on the PCIEX16 slot as the first display.

Done a little research on that card and from what other users say is that you need to connect both the 6 pin and the 8 pin power connectors for the card to work.
Take that into consideration when buying a new PSU minimum 550W required.
I love my EVGA 650W Modular.

got everything to work but its still doing the same thing, iam thinking its not the video card, what is happining is the color flashes red every once in a awhile. sometimes i have to shut the computer down to get it back to normal. got any ideas what else it might be. itmght run a day or two without doing anything, then it might do it a couple of time a day.

Have you invested in a more powerful PSU, like you said you would and what is the wattage of that PSU.
