    HELP PLEASE!
I lost all my programs when trying to uninstall webshots!
I have reloaded Windows 98 but now my monitor settings are stuck on 16 colours. The slider will not move.
The computer shop said that they would have to find out the type and download one from the internet. Is this right or any suggestions.
    Novice at this.

Yes, installing the correct vodeo card drive should fix the problem.

The computer shop meant that they would need to know the name of the video card (also called display adapter) you have in order to get the right drivers for it. Drivers are the software that allows the hardware to communicate.

First, look through all the CDs and floppies that came with your computer and see if you can find any with video card or display adapter drivers. If so, you can install them yourself.

Or, if you still have the documentation that came with the computer that has a list of its components, the name of the video card might be listed there.

You can also right click on the My Computer icon, left click on Properties, go to the Device Manager tab, left click on the plus sign next to Display Adapters and see if the name of your video card is listed there.

If none of those tell you what you need to know, you can download and run Aida32, which you can download from this site. Get the "exe" version of the "Aida32 - Personal System Information."

Go to where you told it to save that download, double click on it to start the install, let it install and look under "Computer>Summary" for the name of your video card...hopefully, it'll be listed next to "Video Adapter. "

If you like, post back with the name of the video card and we can help you find the drivers for it.
