I am trying to capture video to my computer so I can copy VHS and analog video tape from a camera onto hard disk and then copy them to DVD. I have a DVD R/RW drive and lots of memory but cannot get the system to work. I am using a Pinnacle Linx input cable but none of my programs will recognise it. I can copy from a digital camera using the firewire connector but cannot get any analog input. My Studio 7 does not recognise anything other than the digital camera. I bought a copy of Roxio Videowave but it also will not recognise the Linx connector. It says that I should be able to copy direct to the hard drive using the Linx and then copy to DVD from there, but I cannot work out how to do it.
Can anyone help me here, and would I be able to buy an internal video capture card which would be better than the Linx, or is there a reliable external device I can use?

Being that you have two ways of capture, firewire and Linx after you opened studio 7 did you go to setup and under capture source set it to Linx?

The only option that works under setup is the digital camera one, via the firewire port. I have another version of Studio 7 on my bride's computer and it has two options, including the Linx connection. But it came bundled with the computer and I have no disks to try it on mine.
The Linx connects through a USB port and it is being recognised, just not by the video programs.
I have spent a lot to buy the bits I needed to make a computer just for this task, and it is frustrating not to be able to do what I want with it. I don't know if the problem is with the software or the hardware. I have tried also a program called WIN DVD (it came with my DVD drive) but it also will not allow me to capture video from an analog source.

I also have LINX and it came with a SE version of studio 7. I just installed the software and have not used it yet. If you have version 7.0 at their website they have a update to make it version 7.15.1, which I have installed. You mite want to contact Pinnacle and tell them the problem you are having and also check if they have any FAQ that may give you a answer to your problem.
