OK I've been getting bounced emails back that I never sent out. I know this is a symptom of Klez and BugBear B viruses. But I keep my EZAntivirus program updated every day. I upgraded to the latest version to be sure I had full protection. It automatcially downloaded the latest sigs and scanned my PC. It said I didn't have any virus. To be absolutely sure I ran the free online virus scan from Housecall. It said it found 2 trojans feeporno.exe and mp3gratitui.exe. But when I scanned my computer for these files using the Windows file search, it didn't find either one. I went to the folder these programs were said to be in and they weren't there.

Can trojans hide themselves from being found on the computer in this manner? Could these 2 trojans have been responsible for all the bounced emails? And could anyone recommend a good trojan stopper program that stops just trojans because I already have an antivirus program and don't want conflicts between them.

    Hi

Sorry I cannot answer the Trojan theory questions but you may like to use a software program that I found very useful when trying to find open ports on my PC. The online scan will only show possible trojan ports ( I don't think it actually finds the Trojans.)

To make sure I downloaded the trial version & gave my PC a really good check. It found 2 possible ports which other scans did not show me. Fortunately I did not have any Trojans. The program will tell you exactly what it finds and remove them. There is also good info. on the site which may help with your questions.

If you really want to make sure you can find the software HERE

Hope this helps while you wait for the answers ( sorry all I know is that I do not want Trojans  )

The bounced emails that you never sent is also a way spammers are using to get you to open the spam.

I tried the online scan and it said I don't have any open ports. If I don't respond to the emails, the spammers won't use my address, right?

Like most folks here, I use Mailwasher. It allows me to "look" at the email on the server, and it has a "bounce" feature ", it sends it back to the sender as if its "undeliverable ".

They were in the C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES folder.

... and I assume you didn't allow Housecall to delete the files?

It said the files couldn't be cleaned, so I clicked to delete them. But I couldn't find them before I did this.
