    Hi

I have an MSI laptop which has an icon to switch on/off the wlan feature. When I switch it on a yellow/green light indicates on the front panel that the feature is turned on. I have win xp sp 2 installed. Now where should I go to check the available networks in my area. On my desktop pc i go to Start -> Connect To and choose Wireless Network Connections, however, on my laptop this option is either not available or not visible because on the ConnectTo menu I only get Show All Connections.

Any ideas please how can i connect my laptop to my wireless network.

    Thank you.

    and then

I will assume you are wisely using XP (edit: which is handy because you are)
if win7 (aka vista) then SOL on so many levels

    open your my computer
    click up
    right click: my network places
    click properties
    double click your wlan adapter
    click properties:

    tick these two boxes:

    IFF wlan is powered
right click wlan icon in tray (area near clock)
