    Hi guys and Galls.

A simple question with (hopefully) a simple answer:eek:.

I have two netgear wireless routers WGR614v9 and WGR614v6.

Currently the v6 is the only (active) router but I'll be changing to the v9 shortly. I was wondering though if I can extend the wireless reach further using the second router as a bridge, I have cable but I'd prefer router->router->laptop without cables. Is this possible and if so where do I start (networking is not my forte:eek:)?

Best to use a cable to the second router in ap mode only, disable its DHCP, give it a static ip address, set its gateway to that of the first router. Each time you add a wifi link in the daisy chain you lose 50% of the bandwidth, thus best to use cat5 from the second ap to the main router.

Thanks for the advice Tony :)

Just to let you know there's only one desktop wired to the main router and the laptop which I can use in my house but no (wireless) access from my neighbours (right next door) the plan is only to have access for a couple of hours a day from the neighbours so it shouldn't be a problem. I'd rather that than tie cables to the walls and drill holes through a couple. Since I only have a 10MB/s internet service 25% of 54MB/s should be adequate.
