    (Version:Outlook 2002)

Does anyone have the same problem as me?

95% of the time I work from a PC in the office using outlook. Every know and again I'll be away for a few weeks with my laptop and need to take Outlook
with me to keep everything on one place (access to contacts, rules wizard etc).

At the moment I have to copy across the PST folder which is a real pain.

Does anyone know of an easier way of doing this? Maybe a clever syncronisation tool?

I've looked into the remote log-in webste and tools, but i won't always have internet access to do this effectivly.

    Thanks,
    Ralph

    syncback

    Pete,

Do you simply get syncback to check for the latest .pst file and copy it across? Does it really work?

Also which version of outlook are you using?

    Thanks

I don't use Outlook - Outlook Express is more suitable to my needs, but Synchback merely synchronises files which you specify - the program from which they originate is immaterial.

Let me explain how I use Synchback - part of which may be relevant to your requirements.

In my desktop I have 3 hard drives divided into 17 partitions. One partition contains all my data and I have located the OE message store, Address Book, Favourites, etc on that drive. That drive is backed up - synchronised using Synchback with a copy of the Data drive on another partition on one of the other hard drives on the hour, every hour for as long as the computer is booted up. So on the hour I have an exact copy of my Data drive on another partition and should anything go amiss I lose up to one hour's data, generally only emails.

Over the past 2 years or more I needed to spend weeks at a time away from home looking after my late parents. I synchronised the entire computer less the OS partition to an external hard drive before I left home - now do it weekly - so that I literally had my desktop with me, albeit on a USB drive connected to my laptop. I must admit that I just copied the Data drive to the laptop to save running the USB drive continuously and at the end of the stay copied it back.

You don't say how you copy your Outlook files across - if you heve networked the laptop with the desktop Synchback can be set up to maintain two identical sets of data so you would synchronise the desktop to the laptop when you leave on a trip and vice versa when you return.
