I have finally got Win XP setup exactly the way I wanted, and it is running 100% perfect. I been running it for 2 months and have found no problems.

Now my question is this.... I have XP activated, Genuine Advantage installed, All available updates from MicroSoft aswell as updated mainboard drivers, video card drivers etc..... and everything else I wanted installed... if I use Ghost to make a backup of my hard drive, will I need to re-activate windows and re-install Genuine Advantage etc..... or will it not be effected???

The reason I ask is if I ever needed to re-install XP all I would need to do is copy my backup to my original C:, then would there be any problems??

You should have to reactivate. Even if you do, it's pretty painless....

You should consider cloning to another drive incase your current one dies altogether. Then you just switch drives and off you go.

If you restore the drive using Ghost and a GHO backup you will not need to reactivate. Ghost will restore things just the way they are now.

    Steve R Jones,

Thats actually what I meant.... If I were to clone the drive to another, would I then need to re-activate.... because I can't see why I'd have to if Ghost makes an identical "copy "....

    TonyT,

That's what I thought..... I don't mind re-activating "if" I have to but it would be just one thing less to worry about...

re-activating is quite simple, if you have to, just call the toll free number and explain that you changed hard drives and activation will be 1-2-3.
