Is it possible to use a flash as a boot drive/disk?

It depends on your mobo. Check the boot options in your BIOS.

I understand about the bios, but can I get all the correct files to be used from the flash drive?

If your mobo can boot from flash drive, then the files can easily be added to your flash drive. I'll let others who have had more experience with this give you some links.
Here are some options, if no one comes up with an easier fix: http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm
