I have a Motorola V365 (GSM) with T-Mobile. Recently, I switched my land-line over to T-Mobile as well for VoIP. In the past, I've always used Windows fax with a modem to send faxes, but, now that I'm on VoIP, that's now impossible (incompatible).

I'm trying to find a way to connect my phone (via USB) and use it as a modem (on nights and weekends) to send faxes like before. I don't want to use one of those rip-off internet fax companies, and I don't want to have to get a land-line. My call phone plan doesn't include data.

From what I've found, I installed Motorola Phone Tools, the phone modem drivers, and the computer recognizes the phone as a modem. Good so far. I can dial a number from my computer desktop (with the application) and call it with the phone--no problem.

But, when I try to send a fax (print->fax), using the phone modem, it dials, the phone dials, then the phone emits a faint busy tone, and the fax console says "Line is Busy ".

Has anyone overcome this problem? Any ideas?

Thanks, Steve, but I already know that my VoIP is incompatible with the faxing protocol, which is why I'm trying to bypass the problem with my cell phone.

Any input about faxing with the cell? I've got the cell modem drivers installed. The computer recognizes the cell as a modem via a usb connection. I can place calls with the cellphone tools program GUI (from the computer), but when I try to send a fax (over the modem), the cell emits a busy signal, and the fax fails: "Line is busy ". I found a place in the cell's settings where I changed the USB connection from 'sim' (external harddrive) to data/fax, but still ... the same result.
