I have Windows XP on my computer. After I push the power button (not after I click on my internet icon) a screen comes up and tells me to click my username before I am even connected to the internet. This is a nuisance. The desktop is on the screen and then I have no problem connecting to the internet. I don't understand how I ever got that username. How could I get rid of or avoid that screen? I don't have any network at all. Thank you.

Do you have .NET Framework 1.1 installed? If you do and it has not been updated, you will get a login screen on startup. KB867460 and KB886903 are what you want to install. I don't remember which one is the cure but I think it's the first one.
