user account lists without AD/LDAP

Hi,

I want to manage user accounts across 12 PC's. There is a NAS file server (QNAP) however we don't use Active directory or have a domain controller.

Can i create a, text file for example, with a list of user names, display names and passwords which i can import in some way such that it creates all the users?

This would be for example:

User name Display name Password
J.Smith John Smith 1234
P.Jones Paul Jones abcd
K.Williams Katie Williams 1a2b


Is this possible? its not for central user management, just to avoid having to type it all in to several computers!

Create user where ? On NAS ? Every NAS server would have a front end for creating groups/users & defining access. You should use that only.

 

Apologies for not being clear.

I can batch create users on the nas from a CSV document containing the user credentials.

I want to be able to use a list of user credentials to automatically setup the user accounts on a windows PC.

Normally to setup accounts you must go through the "Add user" routine. I want to avoid this by being able batch create users in windows from a list in some appropriate format.
