Whenever I boot up my computer, I get the following message. User Account Control. Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer? Program name: WDBtnMgr.exe

I click Yes and the boot continues.

I'm wondering if this might be connected to the backup program that came with the external hard drive (Western Digital) that I use to back up my stuff?

It's kind of annoying. Is there any way I can keep this from popping up?

    Thanks.

You should google-> WDBtnMgr.exe to learn what it is....

Odds are you can click on Start->serach and type: msconfig
Look in the Startup tab and see if it shows up there. If so, uncheck it.

After googling it, I have determined it's necessary for the backup program. I guess what I don't understand is why this user account control thing comes up during bootup. Other programs start and run in the background without messages like this popping up and requiring me to click Yes.

Some manufacturers are pretty hopeless when it comes to product testing.

I have a few programs that cause a UAC window to pop up every time they run when there should be no need for it.

WD Button Manager seems like an ancient product (October 2006) and it lists this for support:

So it's not compatible with Windows 7
