I couldn't find the answer to this question anywhere in the threads:

I have a home network via router and cable and am going to make it wireless. Since my notebook has a wireless PC card, do I have to have a wireless PC card for my desktop, too, or can I use a USB adapter? And will there be transferred firewall protection via the router?

cafeslave, in order to give your question a proper answer, i need some more information about what you have..
    1) what exactly did you pickup as your router? model number?
    2) how is your pc currently accessing the cable modem?

Ill take a predictive guess to the answers.. Most likely you picked up a linksys or SMC thingy, which has wireless support. Your PC is ethernet(via cable) to the cable modem right now.
You are probably all set. This is how your setup will look. Same config i run myself.
    Code:
    <internet> --<cablemodem>--<linksys>---wire---<pc>
                                  |-----<wireless>-------<laptop>
The question behind the question is 'does your router have ethernet cable jacks as well as wireless'?

The firewall features in your router will cover both computers.

    Joe,

It is a Linksys 802.11G wireless router with ethernet jacks. PC is ethernet to cable, yes. Both computers have been configured for wireless. I have a Linksys wireless-G card for my notebook.
