    I notice whilest checking my computer when
    using Microsoft Security Essentials, starts
    with C:\FB_OS. What are these files used
    for? and on checking further, dates refer back
    prior to my buying computer in October 2009.
    Some of the files shown are not installed in my
    computer. Can these files be removed without
    causing any malfunction to computer.

    Computer: HP Presario CQ5115uk. Windows 7 Home
    Premium.

    Hi BobbyScot. If you don't know what the folder is then you can try sending the folder to the recycle bin and leaving it there for a few days. If you can use your computer without any issues after sending the folder to the recycle bin then you can permanently delete the folder at a later time.

    Unless FB_OS stands for factory backed up operating system Evan (not saying it does but it is a possibility)...

    Best left alone BobbyScot unless HD space is at a premium (even then I'd back up to DVD/CD)
