I understand the flexibility of usb and the ability to add so many different devices to it but if one were to use a usb adsl modem or nic modem which is better ???

Which one impacts the processor more ?

All I can compare your question to is my similar one when I asked the cable company technician which is better for "cable modem ", a USB set up or a PCI NIC.

He said without doubt, the PCI NIC. Doesn't answer your question but it may have answered a more important issue - which will provide better performance. Of course, this wasn't DSL either.

Information appreciated even though I am surprised at what the tech told you.
