Anyone used one of these before? I see them on Ebay and would to pick one up for a progect I'm working on. I'm not sure if they run at 10mbps or the full 100mbps using USB 2.0

The ad says 12mbps which doesn't really make much sense to me.

One of the ads for reference
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11182&item=5764888276&rd=1

Guessing this is the correct forum.

    Chris,

Is there a reason you want USB vs Ethernet? Ethernet is MUCH better than USB for networking. USB uses up to 10% of the CPU time to service the port. Ethernet uses much less.

I have a 5 port network switch that I wired up to run off the 5v USB hub source. It would be one less wire to plug into the laptop if I could adapt the ethernet to USB adapter to fit inside the switch and run off the USB port.

    Chris,

You do know that the USB port is not designed to drive much current. I would not find it a good idea to start driving a USB port too hard especially on a laptop. Why would you want to take a chance on driving a laptop port too high and possibly damaging the laptop?

That adpater you are taking about is a USB to Ethernet Adapter. It has a cable that would go to your switch. A cable is a cable. What am I missing here?
