I slipstreamed SP2 and XP Pro and installed it on my 8400. All went well except half of my USP ports don't work anymore. Items I have plugged into ports that don't work will work OK in other ports. Why would some of them work and others not ???

If you made a clean install with a format of the drive you may need to load the chipset drivers from the mobo CD - if you have one.

Check in BIOS that USB is enabled - I guess it is as some ports work.

Device Manager > remove all USB controllers and reboot - let Windows find them again. Do this with no USB peripherals pluggrd in.

Wasn't a clean install, it was an upgrade. The system is only a month old.

Everything is back to normal. I did have to reload a bunch of stuff though. Thanks for the help.
