    Hello

Just recently attempted to install a USB PCI CARD 4PORTS . Windows 7 did not find any drivers for it. After several failed attempts of trying to find drivers. I gave up I pulled the card out.

Now my computer freezes on shutdown , power light on , harddrive off , no usb keyboard light on. Also it hangs on the windows 7 logo on startup. I tried a system restore and it didn't help also I did a Windows repair same problem.

    Can someone please help me

Hi Cobra60, Welcome to WindowsBBS. Have you tried putting the card back in to another slot to see what happens? Did the card come with a CD driver? Did the supplier say it was Windows7 Compatible?
If not, I would take it back for a refund. Neil.

Yes I tried another slot, same result. I removed the card, now Win 7
keeps trying to install a driver which it cannot find. The device came with no
driver. I installed in another PC with win xp. had no problems.

I think my startup issue was of windows 7 trying to install a wrong driver.

I've installed USB cards to comps running XP and usually no problem. I can only suggest Googling the manufacturer of the card and see if there are drivers available for Win7.
Maybe someone running Win7 will step up with an idea. Can you stop Win7 from trying to look for drivers? Cheers Neil.

What I did in device manager it shows a PCI device , I uninstalled it and disabled it.
But I still have the problem of freezing on shutdown and startup.

Do you have anything listed in Hidden Devices which has the Exclamation point symbol? Try uninstall or better still can you do this from SafeMode? Neil.

    No
There is a PCI device listed which has no driver for it , this was created when I tried to
install the usb card. So what I did was uninstall it in safe mode and disable it when Windows
    tries to reinstall it.

Hi cobra60, check the chip on your USB PCI card, and if it happens to be a VIA chip replace it with a card that has an nVidia controller or NEC.
Some VIA chips appear to be incompatible with the nVIDIA.
