I have an MSI m/board inside an unbranded case. There are two USB ports on the front of the case that can be plugged into the m/board using 8 individual wires coloured red/white/green/black//red/white/green/black.

There are two sets of pins on the board, each arranged in two rows of five with pin 9 missing. The manual indicates the USB cables should have some kind of block connectors that will just drop straight onto the pins.

Can anyone tell me how to arrange the individual leads to get it all to work? I have tried some combinations but no luck so far.

    Thanks

You need to look up the pin arrangement in your MB manual, or online at the mfgr's site. If you wish to give us your MB's model, we might be able to help if you can't find the info.

Thanks for your reply, I found the answer here . In short what I did was red, white, green, black onto each row of pins, ignoring pin 10, so red=1,2; white=3,4; green=5,6; black=7,8.

I also had to enable the extra usb ports in the bios.

Glad you got it. That's an excellent reference, too.
