I have a 1 year old clone with a 2.9 gig cpu with 16 gig ram runnning win 10 pro.

The front panel usb ports seldom work, when I try to use them. I plug in a thumbdrive and explorer tries to recognize it but eventually the machine freezes up. Waiting a couple of minutes and the machine will recover. I tried rebooting but that doesnt help. I can use the thumbdrives on other machines. Looking for solutions i see either uninstalling the usb tree drivers or change the usb selective suspend option in power management.are possibilities.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

You could try installing the chipset drivers from the manufacturer.

Win10 recognises almost all the chip set drivers, at least for USB support.
Could be a hardware issue. Some cable may have become loose.

Hi elcajongunsfan, Is this a Home build comp?
Is the front panel lined up correctly and not causing an earthing problem?
In Device Manager > USB Root Hub > Right click > click on Properties > Power Management > Allow computer to turn off device to save power?

I'll check that. It's a custom build on my specs from the local shop.

Yesterday it worked. Most of the time, I plug in a thumbdrive and open explorer and it does it's green bar searching and then everything stops responding, spinning wheels, etc.

I'm going to close this thread

    thanks all
