    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

You need to look on the web site of the company that makes the drive.

    Another important factor is...

Do you have Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition?

    Several points
    1) do you have windows 98 or windows 98 se ( second editon)
Windows 98 SE is a distinct product from the original Windows 98
It came later as a major upgrade
Look in your about or about my computer - if not labelled with the se its 98 orig. ( this is fairly rare) Most likely you have 98 SE
98 SE is the oldest version of windows that is supported by some flash drives , none will work with windows 98 orig

    2) you will need the install drivers
    they may be available
go to the maker of the drive , look for "support" or " downloads "
find the model , or a previous version of your model line
it there is a windows 98 install driver then you are in luck
    Install it and proceed
Some flash drives are not supported in windows 98 se. Many were or at least previous versions of the model line which in all actuality will let you use your flash drive. Good luck. If not try a drivers library like driverguide.com

I guess this is a repeat in more detail
Life is often explanation and repetition in many cases so speak
It was explained before i guess - but in very brief terms - i provided elaboration and more detail
The initial questioner had not responded that his answers had been satisfied in any way
This seemed to be a beginner and are we not here to help such new users
We are not all at high technical levels
I am here , trying to be of help , out of some gratitude and to pay back to any degree help i was given early on im my computer and "windows" career

I know that the Toshiba USB 2.0 Flash Drive will work with Win98SE, if you download the driver. It also works with Linux, so if you're using both systems, you'll be able to access your files in either environment. I got mine at OfficeMax.

Offhand, I don't know specifically which brands of flash drives will work with Win98SE, sorry....

My experience is that it's not as simple as "brands" ... ... it's down to models. A SanDisk Cruiser Micro doesn't work but a SanDisk Cruiser "Other" does.
