USB data link

I may be posting this in the wrong place.
I purchased a USB Data link cable to transfer Files etc. to my new computer. Cheapie but works just fine. My question is, is there any problem leaving it connected? It`s handy to transfer data back and forth with.
Both computers running XP home.

If you have layered defenses, surf the net / manage sensitive information
and email responsible, you have reduced your risks to acceptable limits.
