I have a CF30 IBM toughbook running Windows XP sp2 and I use a US cellular usb wireless card with it. I notice that the USB card works on the side USB port but not on the rear laptop USB port. The rear USB port doesn't even recognize it.

    Why is this?

Have you checked to BIOS to see if it is activated on ?

It is active, it works for a mouse or printer. Just not a cellular card.

The first thing I would try, because it's easy, is to drop the USB and add it again.

Go to "My Computer" > properties > hardware > device manager and find the USB. Remove it and restart.

With luck, windows will find it, reinstall it and it will work.

Sometimes you need to reinstall the USB for it to reconize the card.
