I have a Renesas USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller 1.0 (Microsoft)
It has stopped working with a "Code 43" error. I went to Renesas site and it says the driver is by Microsoft and gives no hint to what is a code 43 error.
It is connected only to a Western Digital backup drive, which gets power and spins.
The drive currently does NOT show in my hard drive list (should be drive I).
The driver is 10.0.10586-212 Th2_Release 151029-1700 (Microsoft) and is the current release.
On July 27th I upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7, and Win 10 did update the driver at that time. However in only the last few days does the WD Quickview S/W report the drive is not connected when I cold reboot. That S/W has zero diagnostics.
    Any ideas??

Well the fix DID work, but Error 43 keeps recurring.
It happens almost every time I cold boot the PC, and randomly when I wake the PC from sleep mode.
However the uninstall/scan will then mostly result in an Error 10, fail to start, and that cannot be cleared by uninstalling/scanning the driver. I have to uninstall, no scan, then cold boot to get it working again.
Is it the Renesas USB 3 board or a Microsoft failure?

Its possible that its a hardware failure but did the USB port work under Windows 7 with no issues?

Never had that problem under Win 7. The USB 3 card was installed last year to power my WD backup HDD.

You might try downloading and installing this update and see if the firmware update solves the problem.

I will try it later today or tomorrow and report back; hopefully to re-close this topic.
