    P4/1.7GB/WinXP SP2.MBO Soltek SL 850SD-C,380MB RAM 40GB harddisk.

Have just installed USB 2.0 4 port PCI adapter card (VIA VT6212L chip)without any problems and Device manager shows all devices including VIA USB Enhanced host controller and USB 2.0 Root hub. USB 2 ports were tested with USB 2 Pen drive and seems to work OK. The problem is that when I TURN OFF the PC and Reboot,Device manager does not show above mentioned adapters and all USB ports work as USB 1.1 . Then I RESTART PC and Device manager again shows USB 2.0 adapters. In short I have to Reboot and then Restart to get required drivers.Have tried other pci slots with same results. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hello Carlos and welcome to the Board :)

Did you try uninstalling the Root Hubs and rebooting, allowing XP to re detect them? Sometimes this works.

    Regards - Charles

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

It may one or two settings in the BIOS (Startup). It may be easier to find them in the motherboard manual (User Guide). Look for "Plug and Play OS" and/or "Quick POST" (Quick Boot). Try changing one, test and reset, then the other, test and reset, then both.

You could also try changing the slot - looks like there is some problem with IRQ's.
