I apologize if this is not the right there at which to post this question but I wasn't sure about the others so here goes -

I have a personal webpage www.richardshouse.net from which I am trying to upload imagery to http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/Richard29/.

The link I was trying to upload is The entire link does not appear in the post under quote but it is there and is live.

Until this past Friday evening I could do thjis with nio problem and then the last image I attempted to upload, when submitted, caused my computer to freeze and forcing me to have to shut down manually as I could not use access Task Manager (it wouldn't work) and Start button would not respond.

What I could determine from Task Manager was that my CPU usage shot up to 100% whereas it normally runs at about 4 to 5%. Photobucket can and did upload the link I was using.

I can upload links from other sites.

I can upload links tro Fokti a similar purposed site.

Photobucket support says the problem is within my computer or with my web page.

I have emptied cache and .temp files and run Spybot, Ad-Aware, Reg. Mechanic, Microsoft Mailcious Software Removal Tool. I can run HiJack this and post the log if it will help.

You folks have always had a sensible, easily understood response to other problems I have posgted and I hope I have the same kind of response here.

What is the process name in Task Manager when above occurs?
Also look in Event Manager under System and Application for errors from your previous crash date/time.

I did not take note of what process name was shown, I guess I'll have to freeze her up again and look. I will also check the event manager and get back to you.

    Thanks

There are two options with Photobucket. (1) Upload Images from URL and (2)
    Add Images from Computer.

If I use option 2, I have no problem.

Seems strange since I am uploading primarily images from my own website
that is hosted by Total Choice Hosting, Photobucket's software does not recognize it as being an Internet web site.

Seems strange to me and was apparently just as strange to Photobucket since they kept telling me to use Option 1.

I have had no Event Manager there were no record of obvious (to me) errors, other than this

I'd sure love to hear anyone's thoughts on this cuz have no clue as to what I quoted from Task Manager means.

    My thanks to all.

Any chance your firewall / security tools could be blocking the request / connection (URL request)? When you try to upload via the URL option, is this when your computer locks up? If yes, not a typical response for firewall / security tools when invoking a simply block.

I'm using Zone Alarm Pro and I can't see where it is involved as it is not set to block either my web page or photobucket. Grisoft AVG doesn't seem to be involved either.

Truth be told, I'm not sure if I know how to determine if what you are suggesting is a possibility, one way or the other. Neither of these activiate
    when uploadding occurs.

To finish my answer, Dennis, the freeze up would occur when uploading with the URL option 1.

I kept trying with that option cuz that is what they were telling me to do.

When above occurs, which process is showing 100% cpu activity.
You can set Task Manager up in view and displayed before you take URL option 1.

The last several tries with option 1 did not result in freezeup, just in nothing happening. I intend to keep trying cause I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

    I'll keep you posted.

To put this thread to bed, I finally gave up in disgust trying to get any realistic and sensible tech support from Photobucket and went to Fokti which has been very good with no problems.
